To accentuate this particular, special similarity we have taken the liberty of bending the Greek phonetics more towards a modern Greek pronunciation. Somebody will say that these are not words but exclamations. Sure, but in which other language does one find these exact and specific exclamations ?

Note:
  • Proto-Semitic. "OY" often repeated, is very well known from Yiddish, but Semitic languages like Aramaic, Syriac, Arabic and Ethiopian have a related " way" and Akkadian has "ua". In fact we might have referred as well to English "woe".

Note:
  • Indo-European. There are indeed somewhat similar exclamations in various group. We cite Avestan "vayōi", Armenian "vay", Latin vae", Gothic "wai", Old Saxon "", Dutch "wee" and many others. Indo-European may have known an exclamation like "*W A Y" or a not unsimilar one.
