Proto-Semitic *TSALÀ --- *THĂLL-O Greek

Apparently this similarity is between the more original Greek root, without an added P-sound, and Hebrew. The difference between the aspired T (TH) and the T with added S (TS) remains and we suppose both are based on an original T.

Note:
  • Greek. The verb "thalpo" is by Greek scholars considered as developed out of an earlier "thallo". We take this for right, though the existing verb "thallo" has the meanings of : "to bloom, sprout" and perhaps consequently "to flourish, prosper, to be healthy". It is not easy to develop "to keep warm, heat up" from here.

Note:
  • Proto-Semitic . This root is also seen in Aramaic " צ ל א , tsal'à = he roasted". Arabic "tsalā" and Ethiopian "tsalaya" also mean "he roasted". This root was probably already used in Proto-Semitic: "* צ ל ה , TS L Hé (accentuated vowel)".
