Proto-Semitic *WE --- *VE Latin

An amazing one-consonant similarity between Latin and Hebrew, where the main difference is that Latin placed the " –ve " behind each of the two words in question, whereas Hebrew places the "we-" in front of the second of the two words.

The second point is that Latin has concentrated the use of this little suffix to the meanings of " or" respectively " or also", whereas Hebrew in the Bible used it both for "or" and for "and". Also the double use, as in Latin, was practised, like in English and …. and …… In Modern Hebrew this little prefix is used only as "and".

The pronunciation of Hebrew can be influenced by the following word, and thus become "wu-", "wa-" or "wi-".

Note:
  • Proto-Semitic This one letter word is present in Aramaic, Syriac, Phoenician, Arabic, Ethiopian and Akkadian and was probably used in Proto-Semitic : "* ו , W".

Note:
  • Indo-European There are very brief words of the same kind in other groups of Indo-European languages. In Old Indian, Avestan and Old Persian there is "-va -va" for "or or". We will not try to make hypotheses in this case.
